Commitment to Community and to Mother Earth

Here at Patti Cakes Bakery we are dedicated to the celiac community, to our local farmers and producers and to the environment we all share. To those ends we provide information and educational materials about Celiac disease and gluten intolerance at our farmers market locations. We support our local farmers by purchasing their eggs, dairy products and produce for our ingredients, and we use recycled and/or biodegradable packaging and compost our kitchen waste. In addition, Patti Cakes happily donates a portion of our sales each year to both the Celiac Disease Foundation, supporting celiac education and research, and to the Washington D.C. based group Food & Friends that prepares and delivers specialized meals and groceries along with nutrition counseling to those with serious illness including cancer and HIVAIDs.

Our Bakery

Patti Cakes Bakery is a licensed bakery business, specializing in gluten-free (GF) fresh baked snacks and desserts with a gourmet twist. We use blends of whole grain GF flours and nut meals, along with organic and/or natural ingredients. Many locally sourced ingredients also go into our products such as whole-milk yogurt, farm-fresh eggs and seasonal produce. Even if you’re not gluten sensitive we think you will enjoy the quality and superior taste of our products, too! You can stock up your freezer with Patti Cakes goodies, and have a great tasting dessert any day without a lot of fuss!  You can pickup our products at local farmer’s markets or by special order. 

 

Our small batch baking does take place in a shared commercial kitchen, however, only dedicated gluten free equipment is used, kitchen surfaces are thoroughly cleaned before production, and baking is never conducted in conjunction with other bakery production. We do all this so that both you and we can feel safe enjoying our treats.

Mine is a story familiar to those with gluten intolerance.  After being diagnosed over twenty years ago with Celiac disease, I used my lifelong passion for baking and set out on a quest to create delicious baked goods that everyone could enjoy.  I love the creative process of developing my own recipes, and by experimenting with a wide variety of GF flour blends, I have been able to craft GF baked goods that are tender, moist and flavorful. I quickly found that family and friends who weren’t on GF diets also loved my desserts, and they encouraged me to bring my products to you! I am confident that you, too, will agree that our made from scratch high quality cakes, cookies, brownies and muffins taste amazing!
